Bridal shower for Tori

My friend asked me to make a cake for a surprise bridal shower.  I am also making the wedding and groom's cakes, so keep your fingers crossed!!!! It was sweet and sexy at the same time and turned out to be a perfect match for the shower theme.

A little birdy told me...

So my friend at work asked me to make a cake for a baby shower.  The theme was based on the potterybarn nursery bedding.  I loved the whimsical birdy theme...
and out came the inspiration...

A baby shower for Jennifer

So it seemed like there is something in the water at Benton Pediatrics.  We are having lots of pregnant ladies this year!!!  More of an excuse to create some fun cakes and to EAT them as well.  I created a cake for little Kade in Jen's tummy.  It was so much fun working with the new edible paper from Michael's.

90th Birthday!

So I was asked to make this cake for a grandma who turned 90!  We showed off all of her favorite hobbies and loved every minute of making the pieces in gumpaste.  Happy birthday Bambi!!!!

Our Baby Turns One!

So we dreamed about this cake for 11 years... maybe even longer than that!  It was fun to make this Micky Mouse Clubhouse themed cake and Ben LOVED it!  The Giant cupcake on top was his "Smash Cake"!

Wedding Time

So I had a request for creating a wedding cake for a bride, who decided on a small wedding.  Weddings colors were blues and whites and she only wanted a two tiered cake.  This is my signature vanilla sponge cake with wedding vanilla icing and fondant.

I loved making these flowers and roses from gum paste and they turned out gorgeous.  Do you spot the butterflies?

Family visit

A cake for my brother and sister-in-law during their visit to Florida.
Robbie and Lize loves to fish and spend time at the beach.

As close to the Florida car tag as it gets...

Long awaited baby shower

We are rejoicing with my friend as we celebrate her long awaited baby to be.  So for the baby shower we created a garden theme cake with sky, clouds and a baby send from heaven.  God is so good.  He knows to give us perfect gifts and the perfect time...  The colors and ideas originated from her crib bedding and nursery theme.
Beautiful Pottery Barn nursery bedding.

The end result...a delightful spring time garden.

...and baby Jillian sent from heaven.

Summer Projects

So we started the summer off with a BANG!  My next project was a graduation cake for a friend.  Her niece graduated with a degree in agriculture and will be working with cows.  My friend has graduated from nurse practitioner school and to add to the celebrations, her sister is having a birthday as well.  So we created a cake to share in all the celebrations and designed this cow themed fancy.

We started by practicing piping on cookies.

Then our first cake...it is a LOT of work smoothing buttercream to look like fondant...

Donating my cake to Ronald McDonald House

Practicing decorating techniques on cupcakes.

Final cake for class I.

Baby cake for Tim and Katey's new little baby girl Molly.  She was born only 2 weeks before Ben came!

My very first blog.

I am about to embark on a journey of sharing with you my successes and failures as a sugar artist.  I hope you enjoy this as much as I do.  Feeding Albert some of the cupcakes I made in my first Wilton cake decorating course.

At one year old I already had my finger in the cake

My mom did a very good job with my cakes and this was taken on my fourth birthday.
