Long awaited baby shower

We are rejoicing with my friend as we celebrate her long awaited baby to be.  So for the baby shower we created a garden theme cake with sky, clouds and a baby send from heaven.  God is so good.  He knows to give us perfect gifts and the perfect time...  The colors and ideas originated from her crib bedding and nursery theme.
Beautiful Pottery Barn nursery bedding.

The end result...a delightful spring time garden.

...and baby Jillian sent from heaven.

Summer Projects

So we started the summer off with a BANG!  My next project was a graduation cake for a friend.  Her niece graduated with a degree in agriculture and will be working with cows.  My friend has graduated from nurse practitioner school and to add to the celebrations, her sister is having a birthday as well.  So we created a cake to share in all the celebrations and designed this cow themed fancy.

Wilton cake decorating class I

So these were my first meager attempts at cake decorating - the Wilton way...

We started by practicing piping on cookies.

Then our first cake...it is a LOT of work smoothing buttercream to look like fondant...

Donating my cake to Ronald McDonald House

Practicing decorating techniques on cupcakes.

Final cake for class I.

Baby cake for Tim and Katey's new little baby girl Molly.  She was born only 2 weeks before Ben came!
It was my first creation, shoes and all.  The cake was iced with buttercream and decorations were made from fondant and gumpaste.

My very first blog.

I am about to embark on a journey of sharing with you my successes and failures as a sugar artist.  I hope you enjoy this as much as I do.  Feeding Albert some of the cupcakes I made in my first Wilton cake decorating course.

At one year old I already had my finger in the cake

My mom did a very good job with my cakes and this was taken on my fourth birthday.
